Data Migration – CRM

Client's Challenge

To reduce costs and improve customer service, one of the largest insurance companies in the United States needed to consolidate information from seven legacy systems, used at more than one hundred different locations, into a new CRM system. These legacy applications were running on multiple platforms and databases, and several were no longer vendor supported or had very limited documentation. As a result, the company’s previous attempts at automated migration were not successful in creating a repeatable process that delivered quality data.

Solution

Modulant provided the company with an automated, repeatable solution based on profiling the data at a business level and using Contextia™ Technology Platform to describe the structure, meaning and usage of the data in the source and target systems.  The data blueprints created in Contextia were then used to automate and control migration from each distinct legacy data source and its consolidation within the target system.  Modulant’s methodology and tools recognize and accommodate all the variations between the legacy data sources, requiring relatively minor refinements to address the unique characteristics of each of these.

Result

Our customer was able to meet its aggressive timeline for taking legacy applications offline, dramatically reducing costs and streamlining operations. They were able to train their own staff to complete the migrations for implementations where variances were minimal. As a result, they now have an up-to-date repository of all information that can be leveraged effectively over time.
